ETOO resales: Depreciation of Timeshare

Depreciation of Timeshare
Etoo resales: Depreciation of Timeshare

Over the years we have found that timeshare sale prices have depreciated due to numerous factors. Gone are the days when people could make a profit or even recoup their original timeshare purchase price. Unfortunately, due to more resorts now being available, worldwide fraud, points systems, the diminishing number of private buyers, rising maintenance fees, cheap holiday packages and internet travel agents, the resale value has reduced considerably.
Timeshare as ETOO states “is an investment in future holidays and not a financial gain”. Although timeshare can be classed as deeded real estate, it is important to remember that timeshare should not be considered an investment, and more like buying a car for example. When purchasing direct from the resort, the original purchase price is at its highest, as up to 50% of the costs are used in the marketing of the sale.

Etoo Timeshare. Exchange Companies - The Status Quo

Exchange Companies - The Status Quo

Etoo Timeshare would like to rephrase part of the “Review of the Timeshare Directive” prepared by the European Commission (1996) to summarize their opinion regarding exchange of timeshare.
“The possibility of joining an exchange scheme is often used in the marketing of timeshare and /or points as a positive argument. The major problems seem to be related to “overselling” of the advantages and the possibilities, leaving consumers disappointed because the requested exchange is not available, the timeshare product they have is not of sufficient value to be exchanged for the “5 star luxury resort” shown in the marketing, or with unexpected high costs related to exchange, having to pay annual membership fees as well as fees related to search and use of exchange.”

Etoo Resales: Timeshare - The Real Story

Etoo Resales: Timeshare - The Real Story

Etoo resales have been talking about this subject on a couple of occasions. This time Etoo Timeshare would like to communicate to you some of our own findings, supported by other independent studies.
Etoo´s research indicates that nowadays it is commonly accepted that the state of the timeshare market does not paint a very optimistic picture. Sales figures of timeshare resorts are continuing to decline with some companies now reporting losses, owners are continuing to abandon the market because of declining standards and ever increasing annual costs, and fraud headlines continue to dominate consumer and media views in Europe. Other factors that undermine the timeshare image are the various alternative holiday products that offer better value for money and are geared more towards today’s holiday makers.

ETOO - Corporate offers for timeshare resales

Move to Corporate Offers
ETOO - Move to Corporate Offers

Up until 3 years ago the best & most accepted way to re-sell timeshare or points was via the so called “fly-buy programme.” This meant sending all potential individual purchasers to the actual resorts to test drive a timeshare by staying in a unit on an inspection visit. If they liked what they saw, they would then purchase.Although it is still a very successful method of disposal, changes in time have brought forward an even more thriving alternative.

Nowadays ETOO timeshare resales dispose of timeshare or points for many of our clients through Corporate Channels, i.e. companies which have an interest in your timeshare or points for reasons of entertainment / promotional or pure business. ETOO promote heavily to the corporate market and have since created a steady database of companies cooperating with us with regard to the disposal of timeshare or points.

Being the largest and oldest (over 14 years) timeshare resale company in Europe, you can confidently rely on ETOO to use every means available to efficiently dispose of your timeshare interest.
